Miriam Pack-Kelsey, passed away peacefully at age 102 on January 1, 2018 at the Aberdeen Village Presbyterian Manor in Olathe, KS. She was born August 26, 1915 in Tulsa, OK. After various moves, she was in Kansas City, MO in her early teen years and graduated from Westport High School in 1932. She received a bachelors degree in fine arts from the University of Kansas in June 1937, a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Miriam married Henry Pack July 5, 1937. Most of their married life was in Wichita, KS, starting in 1947, until Henrys death in 1997 after 60 years of marriage, and Miriams move to the Kansas City area in 2009 for health reasons. Miriam was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for the last 59 years of her 62 years in Wichita. We celebrate Miriams many talents as a mother, seamstress, weaver, and self-trained genealogist. She published books on her maiden Young family in 1984 and her marriage Pack family in 1992. Miriam and Henry were the first in their families to attain college degrees, followed by both sons and all five grandchildren attaining one or more college degrees. Give Miriam a lot of credit for the success of those who have followed her. Miriam was preceded in death by first husband Henry Pack, second husband Alfred Kelsey, and her younger brother Dave Young.
