Huber, Evelyn M., ordained American Baptist Minister, died Friday, January 3, 2014. She was born in Greenwood County, KS, July 30, 1914, the daughter of Louis C. Jr. and Emma D. James Huber. The family came to Wichita in 1920. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church, Wichita, and a graduate of Wichita High School East, Ottawa University, and Andover Newton Theological School, Newton Center, MA. She was a recipient of Ottawa University Alumni Distinguish Service Award. She served churches in Haverhill, MA, Los Angeles, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. Evelyn always liked to work with young people. She was on the staff of the American Baptist Board of Christian Education at Valley Forge, PA and served as Area Minister for churches in Ohio in her later years. Evelyn is survived by five nieces, Virginia Huber Flusser and Elaine Huber Evans, of Wichita, Linda Huber Strandberg, of Estes Park, CO, Donna Eggers Wilkinson, of Riverton, WY, Beverley Huber Hooker, of Sequim, WA; one nephew, Don Huber, of McPherson, KS; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise; brothers, Gale and Lyman; nephew, Warren; step-nephew, Bert; step-sister, Berniece. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Prairie Homestead.
