Peter Marvin Christy

Peter Marvin Christy, 88, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 in Wichita. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2016; Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Pete was born March 5, 1928 in Wichita to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Christy of Wichita, KS. His father immigrated from Greece at the young age of 11, which demonstrated such courage that always resounded with Pete. He graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in geology. He was an accomplished sales professional and worked for over 40 years for Standard Oil, Amoco, and British Petroleum. He married his high school sweetheart, Millie Jean Gill, in 1951. He was a avid golfer, WSUs biggest fan, but most importantly, a dedicated family man. He could often be found loving life at the lake, traveling the world with the love of his life, or marching in the Midian Shrine whose philanthropic work supports the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family and life. His wife preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Kent Christy and Kevin Christy of Wichita; grandchildren, Erica (Dave) Pivinski and Brent (Robin) Christy; great-grandchildren, Addison and Grayson Pivinski, Blair Christy; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with the Midian Plane of Mercy Fund c/o Midian Shrine Temple, 130 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS 67202.
