Joanne was one of my Mother’s (Emma Jean Grunewald Hackett) nursing classmates from Wesley School of nursing in Wichita Kansas- class of 1947. I just found a letter that she wrote to her years ago. My Mother just passed away May 30th 2019. The only thing she wanted me to do before she left was to get a hold of her nursing classmates that she was close to. I have so many stories she told me of her days at Wesley and the hard work they had to do to graduate to become a part of US Cadet Nurse Corps.. I am so sorry that you lost your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I am sure she and my Mother also passed on some cherished memories of those days they grew up in and lived through. In her letter to my Mother she said she had been to two ‘fab’ weddings of her grandsons. I found out that there is a bill in congress they are trying to pass to give these cadet nurses veteran recog nition
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
