Marian Larson Davis

Marian Larson Davis, 87, of Goddard, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, August 7 at University Friends Church. Marian was the beloved wife of Robert L. Davis for over 50 years; the loving mother of Martha Davis of Brookline, Massachusetts, Alison Jack and her husband, Kenneth Jack of Goddard, Carl B. Davis and his wife, Kristine Davis of Wichita, Janet Donaghue and her husband, Douglas Donaghue of Maize; proud grandparent of Samuel, Sarah and her wife, Meghan, and Mariah Jack, Drew and Trey Davis, Kate, Keaton and Hudson Donaghue, and Caroline and Mei Davis. Marian held degrees from the University of Michigan (B.A.), Kansas State University (M.A.) and taught as a member of the Sedgwick County Education Cooperative. She was active in the University Friends Meeting and was a member of P.E.O., an international womens organization. Over the years, she also participated in Great Books, Girl Scouts, the American Association of University Women, several stock market investing clubs, the Goddard Womens Club and the Friends World Committee for Consultation. Marian loved to write, weave and travel. One memorable trip with her husband, Bob, was a visit to China in the 1970s, before it was widely visited by Westerners. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family in the Colorado Rockies. Marian will be remembered by friends and family as a generous, upbeat, adventurous friend and an energetic supporter of creativity.
