McCabe, Frances Lucille, 79, retired special education teacher, died Tuesday, July 28, 2008. Visitation with the family 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 1 and service 9:30 A.M., Saturday, August 2, both at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Interment following at 2:30 P.M., Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS. Preceded in death by husband, Billie Joe McCabe. Survivors: children, Jeff McCabe of Wichita, Nancy McCabe of Bradford, PA and Bob McCabe of Wichita; grandchildren, Sophie, Sidney, Treven and Megan McCabe. Memorials to: the American Cancer Society, 818 N. Emporia, S-100, Wichita, KS, 67214 and the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67211.

I have many, many fond memories from my childhood of playing at the McCabe house…pitching tents in the backyard, slushie cups from the freezer, Easy Bake Oven goodies, rubber bugs created in a kit. The list goes on. Mr. and Mrs. McCabe were always right there to let our imaginations run wild! Lucille will be missed! Sincerely,
Our most sincere condolences on Lucille’s passing. She touched many lives in such a positive way, and you can be proud of all she did as an educator. I learned to like and admire her very much from activities together at Seltzer Elementary School. Jeff, you used to come to my house to play with my son, John, when you were about 6 years old. May God comfort all of you and give you many pleasant memories of your mother.
