Huffman, Leamen Edward “Lee”, 99, died January 6, 2009. Private entombment services have been held. Lee was born in Clay Center, Kansas on November 2, 1909, the fifth of eight children. He was active in Boy Scouts where he earned an Eagle Scout badge. Lee enjoyed swimming and was a certified Life Guard. He graduated from Clay Center High School when he was 16 years old. Lee learned the baking trade at his brothers bakery in Miltonvale, Kansas. He married Doris, who was also from Miltonvale, on October 31, 1930. They bought their own bakery in Aurora, Kansas and later moved to Concordia, Kansas to work in Gillans Bakery. His son, Jon, was born in Concordia. Lee moved his family to Wichita in 1941 to take a wartime job at Beech Aircraft where he worked in the Materials Division. He was Manager of Purchasing when he retired from Beech in November 1974. After leaving Beech, Lee worked for Aircraft Instrument and Development Company for 16 years then moved to Century, Inc. for two years and Advanced Industries for one year before finally retiring for good. Lee enjoyed traveling, but he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. His wife, Doris, preceded Lee in death. His son, Jon (Kay) of Newton and three grandchildren survive him: Mark (Donna) of Dallas, Karen Stahl (Bill) of Newton and Jill Vinhal (Glenn) of Dousman, Wisconsin. Lee has nine great-grandchildren.
