Walter Vincent Courtney

Walter Vincent Courtney, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Walter was born August 13, 1926 to M.M. and Eva (Wilson) Courtney. He graduated from Kismet High School and went on to serve nine years in the U.S. Army. He then went to work for United Airlines and was employed there for 31 years. He married Barbara Ward on January 20, 1954. They moved to Wichita in 2002. Visitation with the family 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 30, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Graveside Service, 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 1 at Kismet Cemetery in Kismet, Kansas. Preceded in death by daughter, Donna Marie Courtney; parents; and brother, Calvin. Survivors: wife, Barbara; sisters, Rosalie Kane of Kismet and Marilyn Hohman of Wichita, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1750 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, KS 67212.
