Mary Ellen (McDowell) Johnson

Johnson, Mary Ellen (McDowell), went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 31, 2012. She was born August 22, 1921 in Arkansas City, Kansas to George M. and Katherine Celia (Sheffler) McDowell. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1939 and Cowley County Junior College in 1941. On February 26, 1943, she married Raymond R. Johnson. They lived in many locations during his Army career including Japan and France. She was a loving preschool teacher, beautiful seamstress and faithful Christian. Her daughter and two grandchildren were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include: daughter, Caroline Johnson Gilstrap (Rich), grandson, Andrew Dean Gilstrap (Michelle), and granddaughter, Katie Gilstrap. Memorial Service, 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 3, Presbyterian Manor Chapel. Memorials established with Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1750 N.
