Gertrude Louise Trudy McLeod

Gertrude Louise (Maltzahn) McLeod, 90, known to all as Trudy, passed away January 7, 2014. She was born on May 22, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1940 and attended junior college in Kansas City. She worked as an administrative assistant in the corporate offices of TWA where she met her future husband, Jay McLeod. They were married in 1946 and recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. Trudy was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed meeting and working with people in her positions as administrative assistant in several medical practices. She loved travel and music and created many beautiful quilts, one of which won a Governors Award and was displayed in the Kansas State Capitol. She was an active 50-year member of University United Methodist Church and a long time symphony supporter and volunteer. Trudy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jay Wallace McLeod of Wichita; daughter, Kathryn (Scott) Iverson of Victoria, British Columbia; son, Alan Jay (Patricia) McLeod of Memphis, TN; and four grandchildren, Scott McLeod, Mark McLeod, Kristen Iverson, and Daniel McLeod. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at University United Methodist Church. Memorials have been established with University United Methodist Church, 2220 N. Yale, Wichita, KS 67220; and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
