Mary Ellen Ecknor

Ecknor, Mary Ellen, 91, slipped quietly from this life to her long-anticipated Home-going to be with Jesus on Monday, January 8, 2007. Service 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 11, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Interment will be at 2:30 P.M., Thursday in Edna Elm Grove Cemetery, Edna, KS. Mary Ellen was born in Waveland, IN to Norman and Lottie Jack on October 21, 1915. After high school graduation she attended Michael Reese Nursing School in Chicago where she graduated as a registered nurse. Mary Ellen continued her love of nursing as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII. After being discharged from the Army, she married George W. Ecknor, Jr. and moved to Wichita, KS. Mary Ellen worked as an R.N. at Wesley Hospital prior to staying home to raise her family. She will long be remembered by her family and friends for her servant heart and godly example. She was actively involved at Wichita Bible Church for many years and served the Lord faithfully throughout her life. Preceded in death by her husband, George; sister, Martha; and brothers, Charles, Wayne and Jimmie. She is survived by daughter, Wanda and Chris Ramsey and grandchildren, Justin and Christina. A memorial has been established with Wichita Bible Church, 633 S. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS, 67218.
