Magdalena Maggie (Aguilera) Chippeaux

August 15, 1938 ~ November 20, 2018
Magdalena "Maggie" (Aguilera) Chippeaux
Loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, surrounded by her family. Born August 15, 1938, Maria Magdalena Villalpando was the only child of Magdaleno and Antonia Villalpando. Her mother died at a very young age and, upon entering the service just prior to World War II, her father chose to have Magdalena adopted by Aurelio and Angela Aguilera. A lifelong Wichita resident, Magdalena graduated from St. Marys Cathedral High School and Wichita Business College. She spent several years in administrative work for Mutual of Omaha, then eight years as a translator for Cessna Aircraft, and 12 years in various administrative positions with Wichita State University. Before chronic illnesses affected a very active life, she enjoyed tennis, bowling and playing the violin. Affectionately known as "Maggie", her family and friends teased her about her love of shoe shopping! She also got plenty of teasing about her chronic lateness, the joke being that the meal-starting Waldorf salad she brought for family gatherings usually ended up being dessert! Among her many talents, "Maggie" was also an excellent cook and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved talking politics as a dedicated Democrat and was a generous donor to many causes. Magdalena married Nickolas Chippeaux on May 2, 1962, and together they raised daughters, Michelle Chippeaux-Kammerer (Harold) and Nicole Wyrick (William). She is also survived by half-sister, Yolanda Porter; granddaughter, Amanda Blanc (Jeff), and numerous members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her biological and adoptive parents; sister, Josephine Isley (Thornton); half-sisters, Bernadine Beauchamp and Adeline Perez-Scofield, and half-brother, Ronnie Villalpando. A Rosary will be held, 6 p.m., Monday, November 26; Funeral Service, 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials in Magdalenas name be made to Holy Savior Church, 3000 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS 67214.
Michelle, I am so very sorry for your loss. May God give you the comfort, strength and peace that will carry you through this time of sorrow.
She is and was my favorite Aunt . . . my brothers and sisters called her Aunt Nena. From her I learned much of the history of our family. Aunt Nena told many delightful, funny and heartfelt stories, and i was grateful to receive her insightful perspectives. I admired her grace, style, quick wit, keen intelligence, and more than anything – how we could talk for HOURS on end on the phone! I shall miss her presence here on Earth, and yet I know her deep love for family and friends lives on in our hearts. Her beautiful, precious Light shines even more brightly now within each of us. God bless everyone who loves and misses her. Thank you, Aunt Nena, for being YOU! Love from your niece Sylvia C. Isely-Aguilera
My sister Magdalena “Maggie” was wonderful, caring, intelligent, funny and very talented. She was certainly very unique in her ability to care and share her love with all of her family, always the wise and adored Matriarch of her beloved family. I am saddened greatly by Maggies passing but she was ready to go and be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. I will never forget her, and will keep my fondest memories of Maggie close to my heart. I will love you forever my sister Magdalena “Maggie” (Aguilera) Chippeaux! Your loving sister Yolanda.
I will never forget Maria Magdalena Margarita Villapondo Aguilera Chippeaux. What a sweet, beautiful soul. God Bless you and your family.
So sorry to hear Maggie has passed. Years ago spending holidays with your family has hit home at this time of year. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.
Maggie had to be a wonderful person for Nicole to be the wonderful person she is. I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes there are no words so all I can offer is my prayers.
My dear friend, Maggie. We made some lovely memories of our time together. The WSU days, hanging out with you me and Sandy, laughing and talking about issues, some funny, some serious. Love you.
Nick, I am very sorry for you Michelle, Nicoles loss. Maggie was very special to Dawn and me.
Dear family, I worked Maggie at WSU. There were several times she worked in our office. We always knew when Maggie was on board, because she would have us laughing endlessly.
Maggie will be missed dearly.
Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
Michelle, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
My heart goes out to you and my prayers go up for you. Thank you for allowing me to care for your sweet wife, momma, and grandma. You all now have one fierce angel looking over you.
Love, Joy, RN
