Mary Reust Arnold Gisick

Gisick, Mary Reust Arnold, 79, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 after a long, courageous, albeit brief fight with brain cancer. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14 at Glenn Park Christian Church, 2757 S. Glenn, Wichita, Kansas, 67217. Private interment at Belle Plaine Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Kansas. Mary was born in Isabella, Oklahoma to Gilbert and Minnie Reust. Mary was a loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and good friend. She was well respected for her dedication, hard work, talents and abilities while she was employed in various offices, and received many commendations while working for the U.S. Postal Service, Social Security Administration District Office, and others. After retiring, she continued her skill as a self-trained seamstress, as well as helping and caring for family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling and cooking. Mary was an active member and supporter of Glenn Park Christian Church and their Missionaries. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Gordon Atherton, James Wall, Raymond Graham and Harold Saltkill and nephews, Billy and Wally Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Donald Gisick; her children, Don Arnold, Jr. (Tammy Barton Arnold) of Andover, KS and Janna Arnold (Dan Zimbelman); step-son, Phillip E. Gisick (Stacy); step-daughter, Jan M. Van Fleet (Douglas), all of Wichita; grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Stephanie Bailey, Sean Gisick, Steven Gisick, Amanda and Christopher Damon and Nicole, Austin and Jason Mankoski; step-great-grandchildren, Araya, Lilliana and Gracie May Damon; sisters, Velma Naber (Harold) of Peyton, CO, Wanda Atherton, Carol Wall and Peggy Saltkill, all of Wichita; 11 nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Larksfield Place, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and Jeanette with Right At Home, for their compassionate care.
