Mary Jean (Walker) Williams
78, died Friday, January 12, 2018, at Dove Estates Assisted Living, Goddard. She was born May 23, 1939 in Wichita, KS, to Ted and Helen (Hipp) Walker. She attended St. Joseph Nursing School in Wichita and finished her Bachelor in Nursing at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City.
Jean married Donald Gene Williams on October 9, 1965 in Wichita. They enjoyed many wonderful years raising their children. She was a registered nurse for more than 50 years. She worked in ER at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita and also at the Red Cross before becoming a school nurse at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School for the next 24 years. After her retirement, she worked as a paraprofessional at Colwich Grade School.
Her strong faith and servants heart led her to a lifetime of volunteering. She loved dogs, sports and most importantly, her family. She especially enjoyed weekly breakfasts with her brothers, Jim and Ray, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Williams; parents, Ted and Helen Walker; brothers, Jim and Ted Walker, and sister, Margie Rohr.
Survivors include her children, Denise Lamb of Florence, MT, Dave (Lauran) Williams of Wichita, Debbie (Ron) Lubbers of Wichita, Sarah (Randy) Bullinger of Colwich, and Mark (Rachel) Williams of Lenexa; brother, Ray Walker of Wichita; grandchildren, Brent and Logan Person of Florence, MT; Ginny (Chad) Eldred of Bel Aire, Dalton and Hannah Williams, Isaac, Brock and Miranda Lubbers all of Wichita; Blake (Carly) Bullinger, Logan (Erin Stengel) Bullinger, Allison, Morgan and Max Bullinger all of Colwich, Evan, Elaine and Erin Williams of Lenexa; great-grandchildren, Cece, Sophie and Noelle Eldred and Luke Bullinger.
Rosary will be Sunday, January 14, at 7:30 pm and Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 15, at 10 am, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Wichita. Burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, the family has established memorials with Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, 8101 W. Central, Wichita, KS 67212 and the Mary Jean Williams Nursing Scholarship Fund, 8410 Twilight Lane, Lenexa, KS 66219.
