Scherr, Joseph S., 94, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Service 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 22, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Joe served in the Army during WWII. He lived in Wichita since 1962. He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge #303 and Midian Shrine. Preceded in death by wife, Betty (Levy) Scherr and son, David Lee Scherr. Survivor: daughter, Carla Scherr. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202 and Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 114, Wichita, KS, 67201.

Joe was one of the lions of our shul, a leader by example in the religious community. He positively influenced generations of young people in the Jewish community of Wichita. You can be very proud of the example he set for me, my son, and countless others.
