Stephen L. Gugleta

Stephen L. Gugleta, 93, retired aerospace engineer, proud veteran, and charter member of Resurrection parish, died Saturday, January 13, 2018. Rosary at 10:30 am; Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, Friday, January 19, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Bel Aire. During World War II, Stephen was awaiting an appointment with the RAF when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with Company A from August 1943 October 1946, and he and the 66th Armored Infantry Battalion, 12th Armored Hellcat Division led Patton across Germany. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and awarded the Company Infantry Badge and the 60 Year Bronze Star. Preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mary Gugleta; wife, Monica Gugleta; and sister, Olga (Joe) Usnik. Survived by his sister, Helen (Alex) McDermott of Wichita, KS; son, Jim (Nellie) Gugleta of Austin, TX; grandson, Christopher Gugleta; daughter, Joan Gugleta (Mike Seiwert) of Wichita, KS; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bahm (Alexander Arens) of Rolling Meadows, IL; niece, Jolene (Bill) Roth of Fairlawn, OH.
