William G. Ray

Ray, William G., 87, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011. Ray was born August 31, 1923 in Sterling, Kansas. A 1942 graduate of Augusta High School, he served in the Military Police during World War II in Gen. George Pattons Third Army. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College in 1950 with a Bachelors in Business Administration and worked in sales over the course of his professional career. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Vona Dell Ray; brother, James Carl; sisters, Margaret, Helen and LaVona; wife, Adelia (Evans), and daughter, Mary Anne Sauber. He is survived by his children, Terrie Eckberg (Thomas) and Brian Ray of Wichita, and Douglas Ray of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be held, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 11 at Downing Lahey Mortuary West. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 10 a.m., Friday, August 12 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita.
