Elena V. (Trabucco) Genova, 94, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. Visitation with the family beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Monday, January 20, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Elena graduated from Boston Teachers College in 1940 and was a devoted teacher for over 30 years for the Boston School system. She cared deeply for her students and worked hard toward their achievement. Her family and friends enjoyed listening to the wonderful stories about her classroom experiences as much as she enjoyed sharing them. She and her husband, Tony, loved to travel and spent their retirement years exploring the country coast to coast. When her husband died, she relocated to Wichita and lived with her daughter, Patti, and son-in-law, Dave Sullivan. Elena loved the cinema and could recognize and discuss the film history of actors from the 30s to present day with incredible accuracy. But most importantly, she and her husband will be remembered for their abundant generosity. They gave willingly and generously without being asked to anyone in the family who was in need and were equally generous to their favorite charities. Elenas sense of humor and her caring spirit were evident to her last days. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by loving husband, Anthony; sisters, Mary Maione, Lucy Bartolo and Millie Cannella all of Massachusetts. Survivors: daughters, Patricia Sullivan (David) of Wichita and Teri Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Albert Trabucco (Yola) of Needham, MA; sister-in-law, Florence Genova of Stoneham, MA; grandchildren, Brian and Derek Johnson both of Phoenix, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. Downing Lahey Mortuary West.
