Janet Oxley

Oxley, Janet, 98, retired USD 259 food service assistant director, devoted daughter, sister, loving aunt and friend, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012. She was born July 10, 1913 in Omaha, NE to Dwight and Lillian (Barmettler) Oxley. Janet was very young when the family moved to Wichita and her father became president of the Southwest Cracker Company. A beautiful and gracious woman, Janet lost her father as a teen and tirelessly cared for her mother through the long illness which took her from this Earth. Devoted to her brother, Dwight, and his family, she loved her nephews and their families and they treasured the time they shared with her. She was a faithful and active servant of her church and a loyal and loving friend to so many. Janet is survived by her nephews, Dwight (Pat) Oxley, David (Melea) Oxley; great niece, Alice (Frank) DeBloois and their three children; great nephews, Tom Oxley and Jonathan Oxley. A memorial has been established with First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Broadway, Wichita KS 67214. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 5 at the First Presbyterian Church chapel. Downing and Lahey East Mortuary.
