Elsie Valentine Cockrum

Cockrum, Elsie Valentine, 94, homemaker, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 with family members at her bedside. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 26 in the chapel of Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Arkansas City, KS. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, January 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Elsie was born February 14, 1911 in Pindall, Arkansas to William M. and Nettie H. Emley. She was married to Ned L. Cockrum on July 21, 1928 in Winfield, KS. Elsie was a long time member of the Sedgwick County Federation of Womens Democratic clubs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned and son, Ronald. Survivors: sons, Donald L. (Dorothy) of Boise, Idaho and Raymond L. of Wichita; grandchildren, Kathleen OConnor, Donald L. Cockrum, II, Jody Cockrum and Jamie Cockrum; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the American Lung Association, 4300 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, KS 66604.
