  6. Dave and I both knew Herb from the Highway Patrol. When I was dispatching I always enjoyed when Herb would come back to say hello (after getting his cup of coffee first!) He also kept me updated on how Greg and Ashley Davis were doing (I knew them from FBLA in highschool). He was a wonderful man with a quick wit and many entertaining stories. Our prayers go out to your family. ‘Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God’ Matthew 5:9

  7. Patti and Girls, I am so very sorry for your loss. He is also, (as a cousin,) great loss to me also. Herb,(known to the famil as LeRoy) was such a practical joker just like his mom and our Grandmother, that when i heard of the accident, I thought at first it to be another jokes. I was so sadden and shocked when i learned it was no joke. I had a lot of respect for him as being the oldest of my cousins, and the fun loving times we shared as children together, running and playing at Grandma and Grandpa’s. I will miss him at our family reunions each summer, as he kept them going also. Just know, Patti, that you Steff, and Susie, are in my thoughts and prayers. your loss is also my loss. God Bless you. Wilma Kay

  8. My heartfelt sadness in hearing of Herb’s death. He will be missed. My prayers will include Herb’s family and friends. David B. Crotchett Retired, Kansas Highway Patrol Phoenix, AZ

  12. Dear Patty and family, I was so saddened to hear of Herb’s accident, Joyce and Stan have kept me posted and I know you know many prayers have been sent up for Herb as well as all of you. The fist time I had seen Herb in many years was at my brother (Sid’s) funeral. He enlightened me on his family and I could tell he was so proud of all of you. God be with you, as I love you all.

  13. I would like to express my sincere condolence to the Cochran family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Patty it seems like yesterday when Herb and I would head back to Salina every sunday night.Actually forty years ago. Sincerely, Larry&Sonya Herbers

  14. Patti and family, So sorry to hear of Herb’s passing. Herb was a great friend and classmate. We used to share rides to town between our parents, before we could drive, when Herb and his parents lived a couple of miles south of us. So it was a great shock when I recieved word that he had the accident and wasn’t expected to live. Please be aware that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time. (Patti, I think the only time you and I have visited was at the class of 59 brunch at the Regency four or five years ago.) Dan and Carol Marrs, Bismarck ND

  15. Herb was a truly great guy and a wonderful public servant. I had the honor and pleasure of working with him during his last few years with the Highway Patrol and even more regularly after he started with the Department of Revenue. He was always thorough, fair and direct in his efforts to protect the public and enforce the law. I developed a great respect for him professionally and a true friendship with him personally. I always enjoyed talking with him about cases we were working together, current events, the stock market or our beloved Shockers. We are all so very saddened by his passing. Our prayers and love go out to Patty and the rest of the family in this very difficult time.

  16. Patti and family, Such tragic news. Losing our loved ones is difficult but memories sustain us. I remember so many good times 40+ years ago when we we’re both newly married couples. Herb was a great guy and know he’ll be missed!

  17. Dear Patty and family, My husband Damon and I would like to express our deepest condolences for your loss. I’m sure your loved one will meet a glorious rebirth in heaven and will be at peace. Patty, please know that Amber, Adrianne, Arielle, Andrea, Cathy, Mavany, Dawn and myself (Chrissy) are have been thinking of you and praying for all of you each and everyday since we heard of your husband’s accident. You have given us such strength just in the short time we’ve known you and hope that we can return the favor and be strong for you at this time, or anytime you need us. You take care and know that we love you and are here for you anytime. Love, Chrissy Hall

  18. Dear Patti & Family, We are so very sorry for your loss. While I never worked directly with Herb, except for the state fair, he really was one of my favorite fellow troopers. As you well know, he was ornery and kept things interesting. Who would have guessed that after beating the odds of trooping for thirty years, that this would have happened. I think the only explaination is that ‘Heaven’ needed another good officer. As much as I would like to be at the service, it looks like I probably won’t be able to be there in person, but will be there in thoughts. ‘God Bless You All’ Tony & Marilyn Van Buren

  19. Patty and family, Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers have been with you daily throughout this most difficult time. We cannot imagine the hard decisions you have had to make, the pain, and the loss you have experienced. Our hope and prayer is that in some small way you will feel our caring and support and that your wonderful memories of Herb will comfort you.

  20. Patty and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that your friends in Kingman are all thinking of you and keeping you close in our hearts and thoughts.

  21. My Dear Friend Herb! I am sadly missing my Friend, Co-Worker, Life-Line for 13 years. Your help through the years were full of respect & compassion for others will always be remembered in my heart, and stay in my heart forever. God be with you always. Your Friend, Norma Creek

  22. Patty-Steph-Susie What wonderful years we had. Our memories will linger on. God Bless each of you. Love Gil and Deanna
