Basta Harland D.

Basta, Harland D., 86, joined his beloved wife of 57 years, Marge, and daughter, Connie, on Monday, December 6, 2010. Memorial service 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 9 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Harland was born in Clarkson, NE on September 18, 1924. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army Air Corps during WWII, serving on a B-29 Bomber Squadron. Harland married Margaret W. Bastian in Omaha, NE on April 30, 1946. He graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology in 1950 and joined the Boeing Company in 1951 as an electrical engineer. He retired in 1989. Harland was a member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America for many years and restored, with original parts, a 1937 Chevrolet Cabriolet, which is now in a private museum. He also enjoyed restoring antique radios, for which he was very well known. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Jensen (Bill) of Alvarado, TX, son-in-law, Michael McGill of Wichita and grandson, Kevin McGill of Miami, FL.
