Schultz Darrell H.

Schultz, Darrell H., 74, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from complications due to Parkinsons disease in Wichita, KS. Service 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 10 at Reformation Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN on Saturday, December 18. Darrell was born February 3, 1936 in Fargo, ND to Sylvia and Hans Homer Schultz. He married Mary Herrick in 1957, and together they had four children. In 1978, he married Betty (Holterud) Johnson. Darrell began his career in the insurance business at Kemper Insurance Company in Chicago, IL He moved back to Fargo in 1958 and joined Western States Life Insurance Company. He moved to McPherson, KS in 1978 as CEO of Alliance Life Insurance Company. He later accepted a position with United Heritage as CEO in Boise, ID. He retired in 1999. He was active throughout his life in a variety of service groups including Kiwanis, Masons, and Junior Achievement. Darrell was an active member of the Bridge Studio, a Life Master in duplicate bridge and enjoyed fishing at Pelican Lake. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Kuehl, father, H. Homer and step-son, Brett Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Wichita; his children, Mary (Russ) Kuzel of Minneapolis, MN, Ron Schultz, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Kathy (Matt) Magness of Fargo, ND and Karen Dalton of Coppell, TX; step-daughter, Laurie (Rob) Boorigie of Wichita and step-daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson of Redwing, MN; brothers, Alan (Sylvia) Schultz of Missouri City, TX and Meredith (Kathy) Schultz of Fargo, ND; sister, Mary Heimark of Sun City West, AZ; step-father, Norman Kuehl of Moorhead, MN; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, S-1509, NY, NY 10018 or the Kansas Food Bank, 1919 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67211.
