Mavis Lenia Haines, 85, Homemaker, went to the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 7, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Margaret Engen; sisters, Mary Hogg, and Elma Press; brothers, Owen Engen, and Raymond Engen; grandson, Andrew Haines. Survived by her husband, John D. Haines of Wichita; son, Craig (Denice) Haines of Billings, MT; grandsons, Ross Haines, and Keenan Haines. She was a major support of the family career of 40 years with the J.C. Penney Company, starting in Livingston, MT and ending in Wichita, KS. During that period, she resided in Mandan and Bismarck, ND, McCook, NE, Pueblo, CO, and St. Joseph, MO. Mavis was described as that sweet, kind, and loving lady, with the pretty blue eyes. Her passions were flowers, gardening, and the maintenance of her home. She believed in the pledge of "until death do us part," celebrating her 66th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2017. During her struggle with Alzheimers, she always expressed her love for her caregivers, especially Shaina Sexton, Syndey Fisher, Traci Keith, and Carla Brown. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral Services are pending. Memorials have been established with: Alzheimers Association, Central & Western Kansas, 1820 E.
