Burgess, James L., 86, retired Boeing Engineer, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005. Graveside service 10:00 A.M., Monday, White Chapel Memorial Gardens. James was born July 5, 1919 in Coffeyville, KS. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Engineering. James served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from Boeing after 38 years. Preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Searcy) Burgess. Survivors: wife, Ann Kathleen (Hite) Burgess; sons, James Lewis Burgess (Cindy) and Jeffrey Layne Burgess, all of Wichita; daughter, Judy Leyerzapf (Jim) of Abilene, KS; step-son, John Andrew LeBus of Eagle Nest, NM; step-daughters, Mary Kathleen LeBus and Suzie Rocco (Jim), all of Edgewood, NM; grandchildren, Kelly, Clay and Brett Foltz, Libby and Lisa Burgess, Tony Thomas Rocco, Sara and Emily LeBus, Michael Jard and Ada Larrabee; great-grandchild, Cooper Foltz. A memorial has been established with Alzheimers Association, 347 Laura, Wichita, KS, 67210. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
