Stark, James R., M.D., 93, retired Wichita Clinic radiologist, died Monday, August 25, 2014. Born in Emporia, KS, 1920, to Viva I. and W.O. Stark. Attended grade school in Belleville, KS, high school in Sabetha, KS, college at University of Kansas and received his M.D. degree from the University of Kansas. Military service for three and one-half years during and just after the end of WWII. Completed radiology residency in Kansas City and joined the staff of the Wichita Clinic in 1950, retiring in 1986. Member of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County, Kansas Medical Society, AMA, and a number of radiology societies. Aside from medicine and family, other interests included photography, hiking, camping, skiing, flying, reading, music, gardening, cooking, travel, etc. Preceded in death by his wife, Elmira; sisters, Helen Caron, Marjorie Harrison. Survived by his son, James David (Bridget Lynch) of Boston, MA; daughters, Barbara Anne Stark (Charles Gessert) of Duluth, MN, Nancy Jane Stark (Dan Hardin) of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Jonathan Gessert of Duluth, MN. No funeral services will be held. A memorial has been established with Botanica Gardens, 701 Amidon St., Wichita, KS 67203. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
