Thomas D. Tom Beard

Thomas "Tom" D. Beard, 82, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully December 9, 2016, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Tom, retired from Petroleum, Inc., after 45 years as a Senior Vice President and CFO. Graduated from Wichita State University in 1966 with a BA in Accounting. A man with many interests, Tom was an avid WSU sports fan, enjoyed golf, reading, bridge, and traveling. Preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Gladys Beard. Survivors: wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth Ann; children, Sherrill Carper (Michael) and Debra Ferris (Greg) all of Wichita; grandchildren, Jared and Jacob Ferris, Haylie, Seth and Macie Herndon; siblings, Warren, Everett and Jim Beard and Betty Janzen. Visitation with family, 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West, 10515 W. Maple in Wichita. Funeral service, 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 21 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1550 N. Chapel Hill Drive in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Thomas D.
