Ann Holmes Yarnell

Yarnell, Ann Holmes, after living a rich, full life, died peacefully surrounded by her family, on August 26, 2005. A reception will be held in the Gardens of Botanica, 701 Amidon, 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. on October 6, where friends and family will be encouraged to enjoy the beauty of the earth Ann loved so much. Ann was born August 4, 1916 in Wichita. After attending the University of Arizona for two years, Ann returned home and graduated with honors from Fairmount College. Preceded in death by her grandparents, L.W. and Carrie (Hutchinson) Clapp; parents Winn E. and Sydney (Clapp) Holmes; sister, Barbara Gorter of Honolulu; brothers, Robert Holmes of Laguna Beach, CA and Richard Holmes of Topeka. Survived by husband, James; son, Richard of Kechi; and daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mark Chamberlin of Wichita. A lifelong advocate of good causes, Ann wished for memorials to the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Blvd., Wichita, KS 67210; Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, 701 Amidon, Wichita, KS 67203 and The Wichita Public Library, 233 South Main, Wichita, KS 67202.
