Janet White Buckley
96, died on Mothers Day, May 8, 2016. Janet was born April 13, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating high school in Pittsburgh, PA, she attended Ohio State University and worked as a stewardess for Trans World Airlines during World War II, where she met Lt. Duane Buckley, whom she married in 1944. Following the war, they moved to Wichita in 1946. She was a volunteer for both the Red Cross and hospice, a member of PEO and the Junior League, and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church. Janet enjoyed Music Theater, the visual arts, and travel. Preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Ethel White; and husband of fifty-six years, Duane. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sue of Knoxville, TN; Tim and Gail of Austin, TX; Mert and Connie of Wichita; sister, Carol (Becky) Stirr of Clearwater, FL; as well as seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Memorials with Wichita State University Foundation, 1845 Fairmount St., Wichita, KS 67260-0002; University Congregational Church, 9209 E. 29th St N., Wichita, 67220; or the charity of your choice in Janets name. Family will receive friends at a Visitation at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Thursday, May 12, 5:00-7:00 PM. Memorial service at University Congregational Church, Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
