Buchanan, John Watson, III, 77, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with leukemia. John was born January 11, 1933, in Ironton, MO to John Watson Buchanan, Jr. and Esther Bernice (Buckey) Buchanan. After serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he moved to Wichita in 1958 and in 1960 married Dolores Gillen. During their 50 years of marriage, John and Dolores raised three sons, John, Mark and Tom. John worked as a Kraft Foods, Inc. sales representative for 26 years. John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader and enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone he met. John was preceded in death by his parents and his step-brother, James Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, and sons, John M. (Jacqueline) of Wichita, Mark E. (Kelly) of Bowling Green, KY and Tom A. (Terri) all of Wichita and six grandchildren, Johnny, Jacob, Patrick “Tex”, Bailey, Lauren and Caroline. The Rosary will be held, Wednesday, September 1 at 7 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 2 at 10 a.m., both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials established with Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, 8101 W. Central, Wichita, KS 67212; St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N.
