Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Jean Frye was quite possibly the most beautiful woman I ever met. Beautiful and strong in every way. I grew up a block from the Frye’s house and was very close to Tommy and cried years later when I heard of his tragic death. Derby got me a summer job at Cessna at a time when jobs were scarce. I remember the romantic story of how Derby and Jean first met. That should have been made into a Hollywood movie. Jean was a true princess. She always made the neighborhood kids feel welcome. Always took a sincere interest in what we told her and made us all feel special. I remember thinking how lucky Derby and Tommy were. I remember hoping that when I grew up I would meet a woman just like Jean. Funny, when I got married in 1978, Derby and Jean gave me a small ‘T-Fal’ pan. I still have it and every time I see it memories of Jean seem more recent. God bless those whose life was enriched by her. I cherish the moments she shared with the neighborhood.

  2. Jean was a wonderful lady, and I am happy to have memories of her. Derby was a first cousin of my Father, Robert R. Stone. In my earlier years, I always heard about Jean/Derby/Tommy from Aunt Marie (Stone-Dunn). Aunt Marie babysat Tommy when he was a youngster. Derby was a first cousin of my father, Robert Stone (d. 1969), and A. Marie (d. 1973). My mother, Cleo Stone Zook (d. 2003), had a very good relationship with Jean; Papa John Zook (d. 2009) and Mother visited with Jean over the years, as I also did. Daddy had five children, Robert (d. 2008), Betty, Joan, Kathryn, and Jenelle. Daddy is survived by four children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren A. Marie had two children, Leo and Lois, both deceased, as is her only grandchild, Lois Marie. She is survived by three great grandchildren. My thoughts are with you at this time. And we will all miss Jean. Kathryn Stone
