Sophie Christian

Christian, Sophie, 92, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 22, 2014, Trisagion to follow at 7:00 P.M.; Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 23, 2014, all at Downing Lahey Mortuary. Graveside services will immediately follow at Old Mission Cemetery. A longtime founding member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, her life was dedicated to her faith, family, and Shocker basketball. She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve; parents, Peter and Stella Batagios; brother, Harry; sister, Helen. She is survived by her son, Chris, and daughter-in-law, Melodie, of Wichita; grandchildren, Stephen of London, England, Alexis (Cooper) Phillips, Spencer, and Cameron, all of Wichita, KS; two-great-grandchildren, Priya and Enzo Phillips of Wichita, KS. A special thank you to Shauna Anderson and Megan Drouhard, for their friendship and loving care over the last several years. A memorial has been established with the Botanica Gardens, 701 Amidon St., Wichita, KS 67203.
