William A. "Bill" Simon, 61, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Freddys Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, passed away December 17, 2016, after a battle with cancer. Rosary will be at 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2016; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Born in 1955, Bill graduated from Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School in 1973 and from Kansas State University in 1978. Bills deep and enduring love of family was expressed in time spent together at the lake, hunting trips at the family farm, toasting to the holidays, dancing the night away on special occasions and finding connections in everyday moments. He generously gave his time and funds to many charitable organizations, and served on the board of the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation (CPRF), and the Advisory Board of the Wichita State University Center for Entrepreneurship. Bill was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his brother, Chris Simon. Survived by wife, Sally Simon of Wichita; children, Jake Simon of Wichita, Stephanie (Jacob) Taylor of Kansas City, MO, Becca (Charlie) Bohl of Minneapolis, MN, Vinny Tranello of Overland Park, KS, Adam Tranello of Denver, CO; parents, Frederick L. and Norma Jean Simon of Wichita; grandchild, Donaven Poland; sister, Sue Wilcox of Wichita; brothers, Rick (Jana) Simon of Omaha, NE, Randy (Alice) Simon, Jon (Betsy) Simon both of Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews.
