Jerry Edward Staples

Staples, Jerry E., 73, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2005 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M., Monday, December 26 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Jerry was born in Charleston, Missouri and served in the Navy during the Korean War as a corpsman. Jerry later moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he became a leading regional sales representative for Anderson Windows. Jerry was an avid sailor, and loved racing sailboats with his family at Harbor Point Yacht Club in Alton, MO, where he would become the clubs Commodore. Jerry moved his family to Wichita in 1974 and was a respected custom home builder for over two decades. Jerry was an encouraging father, a loving grandfather and a loyal friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Marie Staples and brother, Pat Staples. Survivors: wife, Ann; brother, Don of Cape Giradeau, MO,; daughter, Tracy (Jay) Shackleford of Clearwater, KS; sons, Michael of Palm Springs, CA, John (Amy) of Wichita, Christopher (Pam) Young of Derby, KS, Lennis (Grace) Young of Mt. Vernon, MO and Stephen (Kathy) Young of Friendswood, TX; 18 grandchildren. A memorial has been established with Habitat of Humanity, 610 N. Main, Wichita, KS, 67203. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
