Jim Edward Isaacs

Isaacs, Jim Edward, age 100, died in Abilene, Texas, on Dec. 20, 2011. He was born in Dwight, KS, in 1911, and lived there until graduating from Council Grove High School in 1929. After attending Emporia (KS) College, he taught school for several years in Lebo, Cedar Point and the oil fields in Greenwood County, KS. He married Helen Frances Toburen from Cottonwood Falls, KS in 1934. In 1939, he went to work at Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, KS, as a sheet metal instructor. He worked for Beech for his entire career, retiring as Vice President of Industrial Relations. He was predeceased by Frances, his wife of 54 years, brother Edwin Isaacs of Kailua-Kona, HI, sisters, Mildred Sampson of Wichita, KS, and Audrey West of Okayama, Japan. He is survived by three children; Judith Isaacs of Jemez Pueblo, NM, Donald Isaacs and his wife, Vickie of Dayton, OH, Janice Dungan of Osage Beach, MO, four grandchildren; Gregory Doud of Blaine, WA, Elizabeth Doud of Miami Beach, FL of Cory Isaacs of Dallas, TX and Nikki Hill of Abilene, TX; and five great-grandchildren. A private service was held for the family at Downing Lahey East Mortuary in Wichita, KS. Those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the charity of their choice.

Jim was an influential person in our family. When my fathers department was abolished at, then, Wichita University, Jim extended a nice invitation for him to become a Beechcrafter. Even though my dad had a tremendous work history around the state, he was most happy in Department 69 at Beech Aircraft Corporation. Jim Isaacs will always hold a place in our hearts for the many kindnesses he has shown to Wilbur Ehrsam and his family. Jon Ehrsam, Wichita
