Robert C. Burke

Robert C. Burke, 75, Vietnam veteran and retired Union Pacific engineer, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Viewing will be from 12:00 pm 9:00 pm, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at University Congregational Church. Bob was born in Washington DC on June 4, 1941 to Raymond and Adalena Burke. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Edwards. Survived by his wife, Jeanne Burke; son, Jeffrey Burke both of Wichita, KS; daughter, Jessica of Statesboro, GA; brother, Raymond (Patsy) Burke of Mobile, AL; sisters, Elaine Satterfield of Goldsboro, NC, Linda (Tim) Sheats of Toledo, OH; many nieces and nephews as well as his beloved pet Braxton. On November 23, 1965 he married Jeanne Marsteller and they were blessed with 50 years of togetherness and two precious children, Jeffery and Jessica. Bob is a graduated of Wichita State with a BFA. As talented as he was as an artist, his passion was the railroad. He started his career with Missouri Pacific in 1973 and retired from Union Pacific in 2006. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Bobs name with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 North Hillside, Wichita, Kansas, 67219.
