Curtis Dean Rakestraw

Curtis Dean Rakestraw, 67, passed away September 10, 2015. Curt was born September 23, 1947, the son of Calvin and Lillian Rakestraw. He graduated from Sterling High School and completed a tour of service in the U.S. Navy. He returned home and married Diana Huhman, now his wife of 45 years. Together they had two children, Travis and Dana. Curt worked in the oilfields before he and his brother, Dub, started their own oil production company, Rakestraw Brothers, LLC. He was a member of the Wichita Classic Thunderbird Club, Mid-Kansas Vintage Thunderbird Club and Rolling Hills Country Club. The Memorial Service will be held, 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, at Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Curt was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Verlee. Survivors: wife, Diana; son, Travis, and wife, Shaunda; daughter, Dana Dubovich, and husband, Pete; grandchildren, Jake, Ally, Sammy and Jaymee; brother, Earl “Dub” Rakestraw (Anita); sisters, Linda Riner and Polly Brotzman (Rick), as well as many extended family members and friends including his four-legged family members, George and Pearl. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219. Immediately following the Memorial Service, there will be a Celebration of Life reception at Rolling Hills Country Club, 223 S. Westlink Drive.
