Dick Detwiler

Dick Detwiler, 64, died Monday, December 26, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. He is preceded in death by his father, Dale. His mother, Jean, has passed since his death. Survived by his siblings, Daryl (Elaine) Detwiler of Issaquah, WA, and Jan (David) Long of Wichita; 5 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews. A joint visitation and funeral service will be held for Dick and his mother, Jean. Visitation from 3:00 5:00 P.M., Saturday, January 14, 2017; Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, January 15, 2017, both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. They will be laid to rest at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 16, 2017, at Newkirk Cemetery, in Newkirk, OK. A loving son and only occasionally annoying brother, Dick was a 1970 graduate of East High School. His family included his beloved dogs, Carla and Chelsea. Following Carlas death he remained active in the ABMR group, most recently assisting with dog rescues. "Mr. D." combined his teaching and nursing degrees as a Special Education - Educational Assistant at Jackson Elementary. "Uncle Duck" greatly enjoyed his nieces, nephews and their children. He was a lover of dogs, soccer, and computers. Carla and Chelsea join him in heaven.
