Helen Davis Harris

Harris, Helen Davis, passed away on May 25, 2014. She was born on April 13, 1923, in Jackson, Mississippi. She resided in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1942. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Lessie Mae Ross and Nate Smith Davis, and her husband of 40 years, Roy E. Harris. She is survived by her children, Lessie Harris of Memphis, TN, Lola Harris of Wichita, KS, Will Harris of Norwalk, CT; two grandchildren, Lindsay (Brian) Tholl of Boulder, CO, Devon (Austin) Berke of Overland Park, KS; great-grandson, Griffin Berke. Helen was a former J.P. Weigand associate. She was an avid golfer, president of the Wichita Golf Association (WGA), and the Kansas Womens Golf Association (KWGA). Helen enjoyed playing competitive bridge, and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a charter member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, and a group leader of the Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years. She touched many lives through her spiritual leadership, and was an inspiration to her family, friends, and countless others. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
