Wertz, George “Rocky”, 83, retired truck driver, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011. Visitation with the family will be 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 3 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 6770 E. 34th N., Wichita. Rocky served in the Navy during WWII. Preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and son, Phillip. Survivors: wife Jane of Rose Hill, KS; son, David (Vicki) of Goddard; daughter, Carol (Dwight) Boldt of Estes Park, CO; step-son, Jimmy Abplanalp of Lakewood, CA; step-daughter, Julie (Charlie) Huffman of Valley Center, KS; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Risen Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund.
