Beckstrom, John N., 85, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, after a short illness. Retired for 25 years from Wichita Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. after 30 years of service. Visitation Saturday and Sunday with family present from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Service 1:00 P.M., Monday, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. John was born in Lindsborg, KS, August 4, 1919. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a 58 year member of Bestor G. Brown Masonic Lodge, a 56 year member of Valley Center American Legion, a 25 year member of Wichita American Eagles Lodge, and a 54 year member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Nora Beckstrom and his brother, Jim Beckstrom. Survivors: wife of 64 years, Wilma Beckstrom; sons, John O. (Rock) Beckstrom and wife, Connie of Wichita and Carlton (Swede) Beckstrom and wife, Karen of Shawnee, KS; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society, 435 S. Broadway, S-100, Wichita, KS 67202 and the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 S. E. Blvd., Wichita, KS, 67210.
Visitation with the family at Downing Lahey East Mortuary 3:00 - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, June 5.

To the family of John Beckstrom. We were deeply saddened to read in the paper of the passing of John. He was enjoyable to have as a member of the Smith-Phipps American Legion Post #73 in Valley Center. We thank him for his service as a World War II veteran and his many years of devotion dedicated to the American Legion. Our thought are with you during this time of sorrow.
