Iris Edgar Stephens, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, after 97 years, almost all lived in Wichita. She was born at the Wichita Childrens Hospital in 1918, attended Riverside School, North High School, and Wichita University. She taught at Galva, KS before marrying Hubert Stephens and becoming an army wife through WWII, then a mother. She worked at the Ablah Library, WSU, for 18 years, was a member of East Heights Methodist Church for 68 years, where she also enjoyed working in the library, and singing in the choir. She was active in clubs such as Choral Arts, Thursday Afternoon Music Club, Eastside Lionesses, and was a supporter of the Wichita Symphony. She loved sporting events, and the outdoors fishing, camping, snow birding, and RVing with her husband who predeceased her in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Swati) of New York City, and Alan of Wichita; grandchildren, Anaar of Ithaca, NY, Joshua of New York City; great-granddaughter, Laya. She lived and died a woman of great faith. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 22, 2016, at East Heights United Methodist Church.
