Darcey, Dorothy (Bruntzel), 95, retired beautician, left her earthly home and went to her eternal home Thursday, June 2, 2011. The Rosary and Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at St. Elizabeth Chapel, Catholic Care Center. Dorothy resided at the Catholic Care Center for 8 years. She was born September 28, 1915 to Charlie and Nellie (Smith) Bruntzel in Burdett, KS. Dorothy married John T. Darcey April 2, 1938 in Great Bend, KS. He passed away July 8, 1960. She is survived by daughters, Pat Englert of Hays, KS and Deanna Johnson (Ed) of Wichita, KS; son, John Darcey (Es) of Wichita; brother, Floyd Bruntzel (Vida) of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Leora Steffens and Lorraine Neibert, granddaughters, Denise (Johnson) George and Rosemary Englert; great-granddaughter, Victoria Rose and son-in-law, Joe Englert. Memorials to: Catholic Care Center, 6700 E. 45th N., Bel Aire, KS, 67266 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202 or your favorite charity. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

I am so sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing–please accept my sincere sympathy! Our Mom’s were quite the pair, weren’t they?? Hard to describe! Mom did so enjoy her time with your Mom and I have many fond memories! My Mom passed 3-31-06 at the age of 92.
