Oleta Lee Montgomery

Montgomery, Oleta Lee, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010. Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East Chapel. Oleta was born November 6, 1915 on a farm in Lowry City, MO. She was the daughter of Isaac S. Warner and Ida Schmitt Warner. Oleta graduated from Lowry City High School in 1933. She worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Hughes until her marriage to James Paul Montgomery on March 28, 1936 in Deepwater, MO. In 1940 they moved to Wichita, KS so Paul could work for Boeing. Throughout the years, she lovingly took care of her children. Oleta was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church since the early fifties. Following the death of her husband in 1991, she joined the church sewing circle and helped with the Economy Corner. Also preceding her in death were her three sisters, Gladys Allen (Leonard) of Lowry City, MO, Marion Bower (John) of Grandview, MO, and Virgilene Patterson (Earl) of Tulare, CA. Survivors are daughter, Pauline Polok (John) of Hope, KS; son, Harold Montgomery (Vivian) of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Neil Polok of Hope, KS, Regina Polok of Fairway, KS, Michael Montgomery of Wichita, KS, and Erica Williams (Dave) of Haysville, KS; and sister-in-law, Mary Bailey of Independence, MO. A memorial has been established with American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
