Troy Lee Hampton

Troy Lee Hampton, 79, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017. Visitation with family, 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 28, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, First United Methodist Church, Wichita. Troy was born to Isaac and Charlcie Hampton in Ocie, MO on March 25, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Lou Hampton. Survivors: wife, Kathy; son, Harold (Debbie) Hampton of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Lori (Barry) Severns of Lantana, TX; sisters, Almeda Wyman of Kissee Mills, MO, Imogene Grisham and Carma Frazier both of Gainesville, MO; brothers, E.J. Hampton and Tommy Hampton of Wasola, MO, Bobby Hampton of Seneca, MO; grandchildren, Pierce Hampton and Reece Hampton; Parker Severns, Carter (Amelia) Severns, Addison (Kaitlin) Severns, and Anya Severns. Troy retired as a Major on the Wichita Police Department in 1986 after 20 years of service. He was a Sedgwick County Master Gardener and also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and helping others. He was an active participant on numerous mission work teams sponsored by his church, First United Methodist. Most importantly he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially grandchildren.
