72, retired Kansas Department of Transportation Engineering Technician Specialist, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018. Visitation, 6-8 pm, Tuesday, September 25 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 26 at Wichita Bible Church. Preceded in death by parents, Wendolin and Anna Hammersmith, and sisters, Delores and Millie. Survivors: wife, Beverly; daughters, Megan (Jim) Waldren, Katie (David) Shanholtzer; grandchildren, Zane, Hadley, Emerson, Rorey, Jettson and Grace; father-in-law, Roy Howe. I was just a little girl when I met Steve for the first time. Sure wasnt certain he was good enough for ‘my’ Bev but he won my heart! Bev and family, may your memories be a constant reminder of his love for each of you. My prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
