Emmett S. Haddox, III 71, retired materials handling salesman, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018. Visitation, 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 4, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Emmett was born in Joplin, Missouri in 1946. He moved to Wichita in high school and graduated from East High. After graduating, he went to work, then met and married the love of his life, Victoria, in the summer of 1972. He enjoyed staying active, golfing, fishing, movies, joking with restaurant staff, coffee with buddies, spoiling his family, and lunches with extended family. He was a patient, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend who will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by mother, Thelma (Wallace) Haddox and father, Emmett Haddox, Jr. Survivors: wife, Victoria (Avila) Haddox; daughters, Crystal Garcia (Guadalupe) and Amber Haddox; grandchildren, Logan and Piper Garcia; sister, Jinger Haddox. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.

  1. Sorry to hear about Emmetts passing.
    I worked many years with him at Sisco Equipment and United Rentals.

    My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family especially at this time.

  2. Victoria, we are so saddened to hear of Emmetts passing. Charles worked with him at Pepsi early 60s . You and him would come in and visit and get Dairy Queen from time to time. He was a wonderful person and someone you would say you were proud to know. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you go through this trying time.

  8. The video is a beautiful tribute to Emmett. Always smiling, always a positive person. Love being able to visit with him at cousin lunch and at chili cook off. He always enjoyed himself wherever he was. Miss him so much.

    We are so sorry for your loss. Emmett was a very good man who seemed to bring joy to everyone he met it seems like.
    Frank sure enjoyed his outings with Emmett & Steve going fishing, to the movies, and great conversations at the cousins luncheons, you married a great man. His love for his family showed.
