Merkle, Loretta Jane, 54, homemaker, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 10 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. The graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 11 at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Loretta Jane was worked for VIPS (Volunteer in Public Schools) in both elementary and middle schools. She helped organize and support volunteers throughout the school system and received many awards for her service. Preceded in death by father, Boyce W. McKenzie and brother, Dennis McKenzie. Survivors: husband, David J. Merkle; children, Jody Merkle of Wichita and Karen Pridemore (Josh) of Phoenix, AZ; mother, Allie McKenzie of Sulphur Springs, TX; brother, Don McKenzie, of Sulphur Springs, TX; sister, Kathy Wilson (Rick) of Frisco, TX; grandson, Jody Merkle, Jr. of Wichita. A memorial has been established with American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, 67211.
Graveside service 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 11, 2010 at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Texas

Karen and Jody, So very sorry to read about the passing of your sweet mother. Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and you are in my prayers. I don’t know if you remember me or not, but you were in my computer classes at Anson Jones.
