Iris Louise Skelton
July 21, 1930 ~ June 7, 2012
Skelton, Iris was born to John and Lillie White on July 21, 1930 in Wichita, and passed away on June 7, 2012 at Delnor Glen Senior Living in St. Charles, Ill., surrounded by her husband, Glen, her children and loving caregivers. Iris grew up in Wichita and met Glen when he moved in across the street when she was 9 years old. They were fast friends from then on. Iris graduated from North High School in 1947. She and Glen were married and continued to live in Wichita until they later moved to Omaha, Neb., where Glen worked for Omaha World Herald. Iris and Glen moved to Delnor Glen in 2008 to be close to their children. Iris loved to play golf and bridge. Iris and Glen spent many hours on the golf course and even started a yearly golf bus trip with many of their friends. She was very proud of being on the inter club team at Oak Hills Golf Club. In their retirement years Iris and Glen would spend the winter months in Arizona and Texas so that they could continue to play. Iris and Glen loved attending church at Christ Community in Omaha and were especially blessed by Pastor Bob Thune and his wife Ruthie. Iris is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glen; the twins, Rick Skelton (Jeri) of St. Charles, Ill.; Sherri Shallenberg (Chuck) of Batavia, Ill., and their daughter Joni Bedard (Keith) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; seven grandchildren, Christine and Carrie Shallenberg, Aimee (Eric) Elftmann, Kati and Jack Shelton, Tim and Teri Bedard and two great grandchildren; Grace and Gwen Elftmann. Zelna Kangas, sister, preceded her in death. The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Geneva, Ill. A graveside interment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Moss-Norris Funeral Home in St. Charles, Ill. is assisting with arrangements and will accept condolences on behalf of the family at 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, IL 60174.
