Florene Ann (Huslig) Miller 88, retired KP&L customer service representative for over 20 years in Great Bend, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018. Rosary, 10 a.m.; Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m., both Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Lumen Christi Chapel in Via Christi Village, 3636 N. Ridge Road, Building 400, in Wichita. First and foremost, Florene was a loving, strong and devoted mother to her daughters. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Florene loved to collect glass and antiques, enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a member of St. Rose Parish in Great Bend and sang in their church choir for many years, until she moved to Wichita in 2002. Preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mary Huslig; husband, Bill Miller; brothers, Bernard, Melvin, Elmer and Donald Huslig; sister, Marion Sandlin. Survivors: daughters, Jaye Ann (Jack) Buehler of Wichita, Susan (Chuck) Brady of Tulsa, OK, Carolyn (Kent) Roberts of Wichita, Amy (Kirby) Demel of Wichita; brothers, Laverne Huslig of Ellinwood, Hugo (Connie) Huslig of Wichita; grandchildren, Jason (Mindy) Buehler, Jeff (Amanda) Buehler, Kristin (Jason) Bradley, Taryn (Alex) Acosta, Jennifer and Meghan Brady, Kayla and Kyle Demel; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202; Bishop Carroll Catholic High School General Fund, 8101 W. Central, Wichita, KS 67212 and St. Catherine of Siena Building Fund, 3642 N. Ridge Road, Wichita, KS 67205. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.

  4. Florene was a good woman and a dear friend. I would have liked to attend the memorial service, but the timing made it impossible. I especially would have liked to see her four girls. Our childen grew up together when Florene & Bill lived in Hays. Thank you, Jaye Ann, for calling to let me know of your mothers passing.
